this was a Ques in my viva, what happens to the focal length of a convex lens if it is dropped in water. i told it wud increase acc. to lens makers formula. and the examiner said i might be wrong. wats the ans plz help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it would depend on the material of the glass. If it is normal glass (n=1.5) then u are correct, bt if it is some other exotic material then u cannot predict. Most probably u r correct

Can u give me the explanation why it becomes four times?
