A SIMPLE METHOD TO DO IT IS THAT FIRST CONVERT 00 TO 1 DEN 01 TO 0 DEN 02 02 TO 0 AND SO ON IF U R DOING BY ROW (4 A 3D MATRIX)TRANSFORMATIONS AND AT LAST U CAN CHECK BY MULTIPLYING UR ANS WID ORG MATRIX TO GET IDENTITY MATRIX

here's a very useful trick my friend taught me:
the key is to convert the number to 0 or 1 (whichever is reqd) in the correct order.. the order is like this...

1    5    6
2    9    7
3    4    8

i.e. first convert (1,1) to 1, then (1,2) to 0 then (1,3) to 0 ... and so on in the order i have given...
