is it (C)
Because , N , O and C are quite small and they do not hav d orbitals. P has an mpty d orbital

yes it is C. See which has electrons or which can promote ens to the d orbital

Yes it is C on P with a configuration of 3s2 3p3 can have an expanded octect occupying electrons in the D orbital!!!others dont even have a d orbital!!

When a p-orbital el. is bonded with d-orbital el. that is called p-pi ~ d-pi bonding. To solve such type of questions you have to know the electronic configurations of elements at least till 30.Then check for hybridization and decide which orbitals are engaged in bonding and then we can easily answer such type of questions.
Finally the answer for your question is (c).Indeed u can solve the above query in another way too. That is 2nd period elements like Li,Be,B,C,N,O.....all these do not have d-orbitals. So no question of p-pi~d-pi bonding in the above given radicals.Phosphorus(3rd period element) is the only one in the above given options which can extend its valency by using its d-orbitals and hence is the answer.

its definitely C coz..N O and C dont bear empty d orbitals...while P does...and gives accomodation to lone pair...making ppi-dpi bonds..
for doing such question always keep in mind the basic concept...as in this question..the basic concept is that P has vacant d orbitals and others dont have...

exactly the answer is C as only P has vacant d orbital so it can extend its valency and make pi bond involving d orbital
