Hi my friend had asked this qns but due to non satisfactory ans i am asking it again We know that for maximum range a projectile is shot at 45 degrees to horizontal

then why are missiles shot at 60 degree to horizontal

please give reasonable ans plz dont guess

Hmmm....may be because of air friction here in case of missiles.Hope you understood my point.

its due to air friction  n  payload  weight    60 degree is most safest  n suitable projection angle!!!  hope u got it

the earth is not a flat surface as you consider for a projectile motion the mistake we do is that all those formulas are acceptable only for a short range distance and not for missile projection the angle with which  it is launched depends on the angle of dip and declination at that place!!!!

hai ...i think..things r not so simple as we r thinking...first of all miisiles r not always shot at 60 degreees.... i saw em practically in actual war videos wer they wer constantly changing angle....

nd by chance if u r toking abt ICBM ie intercontinental balistic missiles!!!! their princi is totally different....they travel above normal atmosfere till earth rotates nd the desired target is reachable!!!!!!

so verify ur Q???

dont forget u promised to rate me!!!!
