see.. taking a nap in the after noon is recommended .. but not for 1 hr or more than that...........
the reason is that the mind goes to the deep sleep stage after 1 hr or 1.30 hr or so after sleeping....
so if u take a nap of the above mentioned time and wake up in the deep stage .. then it will seem like u dont want to study and want to sleep more.. so your time gets wasted...... and also if u dont want to go to sleep again and study.. then u will feel somewhat that u are deprived of concentration............
so the solution to this is that :::::: u shud not sleep for more than 45 mins.. thats the ideal time to have a nap..
and it is not compulsory that u have a nap in the afternoon only.. u can have a nap whenever u want to .. i mean whenever u feel lazy.. or somewhat concentration deprived.. u can have a nap..
now on more thing : its important : if u still feel sleepy then dont go to sleep......... and most of us feel sleepy during the afternooon... why ? ????
the answer is the regular temperature slump in your body.. ..
see .. when your body temperature is high.. u feel very alert... and on the go.. u like to study,,,,,,and when it decreases then u feel sleepy.. its just an indication by your body that u need sleep... but actually u dont need sleep. and if u will sleep .. then when u will wake up. u will feel damn lazy and tired...................
so the solution to that is simple :
if u feel that u are feeling sleepy .. then do some intense but short physical activity like runnign or push ups.. mind it shud be short .......otherwise after an hour or so u will sleepy again.. so b careful.. its better to take a water bottle and your walkman and go for a walk.
another thing i forgot to mention is that u shud drink lots and lots of water.. it will directly reduce ur sleep by 2 hrs.....
just try the above and feel the difference in u... if still u feel there is anything left then u cna surely ask me .. i will try to help u out.
and sorry to write such a long answer..........

yes , there is no harm in taking a nap but make it sure that it doesnot turns into sleep body needs time to relax also so a sound sleep of about 6-7 hrs it neccessary but time management needs to be done

Yes dude, it is advisable. This is coz after you take lunch , blood supply to the stomach increases to enhance digestion and hence brain doesnt work much efficiently and you feel sleepy. So you can go for a nap provided you make sure that it remains a NAP . And you can cut sleep at night to make for it Cheers !!!@@!!!!!

Studyid is absolutely right. ur nap shouln't cross 45 mins. upto 45 mins ur mind is in State 2 sleep. As soon as you get up, go outside and stay in the sunshine for 5 minutes. ur sleepy feeling will disapear.

Hey mastermind890, see zeeshanp is still in the XIth. Taking afternoon naps is found to be good by researchers. Your point is right about the jee timing. but one should get accustommed to that timing only about one month b4 the jee.

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

I have a small doubt. It is advised that we shud sleep for arnd 8 hrs in a day. so if we sleep for arnd 1-2 hrs in the day then can we cut down the same number of hrs in our night time sleep.?? Means if we sleep for 1-2 hrs in the afternoon then can we sleep for 4-5 hrs in the night and get up??
