wats the approach to find common Tangents to given curves,,????? for eg (x-3)2 + y2 =9 & y2=4x wat will be common tangent$ to given curves

differentiating eqns. finding the slope eqns of the tangents will be equal

just assume a line y=mx + c..
now this line has one solution with circle as well as parabola.. equate the slope equations of tangent of both get teh slope and thus the line.. eq. for circle.. y= m(x-3) + 3root{1+m^2}.. eq. for parabola. y= mx + a/m..
equate the constant (intercept)..get m..
1/m = 3root{1+m^2} - 3m..
now solve ./.put m in any of the eq. get the line..

Perfect answer decoder. It might be difficult to solve this equation but general approach should be like this only.
