How the period of a pendulum clock can be kept constant with temperature by attaching vertical tubes of mercury to the bottom of the pendulum??

first of all attach mercury tube near bob of pendulum.and mark initial position of mercury.now when temp. rises d level of mercury also rises and during fall in temp. level of mercury goes down. u no that time period depends on length and gravity at the point.so u can adjust length of string of pendulum with mercury levels as by changing lengths, time period will remain same during changes in temp.
