since the reaction force will be low so friction will be less and he will be unable to walk

when we push the ground backwards, according to third law the ground pushes us forwards and this force is the frictional force. since the frictional force by the sand is too less therefore it is difficult to walk on sand.

whatever be the normal reaction, since the coefficient of friction of the sand is too low, the frictional force is too low. Remember more the surface is rough, higher is the coefficient of friction.

similar is the case with ice. it is too smooth, therfore coefficient of frictionis too low and hence the friction. it implies it is also difficult to walk on ice and it happens. Always remember: FRICTION IS THE NECESSARY CONDITION FOR US TO WALK

My opinion is quite diffrent Due to less area covered ,the pressure is more .So our feet sinks into the sand and can not walk properly.

because the sand offers no friction to the feet, therfore it is difficult to walk on sand.
