A container is filled with water,accelerating along the positive x axis on a smooth horizontal surface.The velocity of efflux of water at a point at point P at the bottom of the tank near its left most corner is? a)4.43m/s b)5.48m/s c)4m/s d)3m/s Now,my question is...isnt this question incomplete...the water's free surface will make an angle of 45 degrees...so we need more dimensions...

Velocity of efflux only depends on downward pressure at the bottom point.. Due to horizontal acceleration there is no effect of it.
so answer is v = root(2gh) = root(2*9.81*1) = 4.43 m/s

sry..Thats...wrong....anyway...
this is as the surface is going to be slanted...
so...if u derive the expression using work...u get a different ans...

i think d ans is 5.48 m/s obv veloc of efflux shd b >[ ] 2gh . so this is the only poss. option??

thts corct.....but i got the ans assuming it to b a square container..
also...actually applying the bernoulli eqn here is incorrect ,,,isnt it?as this isnt streamlined flow....if u derive the expression u get sumthn different
