While walking on ice, one should take small steps to avoid slipping. This is because smaller steps ensure (a) larger friction (b) smaller friction (c) larger normal force (d) smaller normal force. & PLEASE EXPLAIN

ans is option b as water droplets are formed and take the role of spheres and rolling friction is caused and so friction is less

Well, i think that when taking shorter steps , the force by our feet on the grnd acts in a more perpendicular direction(with respect to the grnd). This increases thee normal reaction and hence the friction.
But if we make large strides our feet exert a force in a more tangential direction and we tend to slip........
I think that's the reason.....
I'm not sure if what i've written is understandable... Pls ask any doubts.........

well the answer is smaller friction the explanation to this is that when we walk the force of friction acts tangentially and hence produces torque on our body as a whole
while walking on snow the co efficient of friction is low and hence there r more chances of overturning
so in order to walk without falling we take small steps so that we land our foot with its bottom facing on earth rather than the way we normally walk...........in which our foot moves in curved position

What Ravi says is probably right. He just gave us the reason -why walking on ice is difficult... Due to excess pressure caused by our weight. ice melts into water and this causes lubrication- decreasing friction... I don't know if it's due to water drops provide rolling friction...

IT IS BETTER TO USE SMALL STEPS BECAUSE IF WE TAKE LARGE STEPS, THE COMPONENT OF WIEGHT WILL ACT ALONG LEGS AND NORMAL REACTION WILL DECREASE.
BUT IF TAKING SMALL STEPS, ANGLE BETWEEN NORMAL AND LEGS WILL BE LESS HENCE, GREATER NORMAL FORCE WILL BE ACTING MAKING uN MORE. IF FRICTION WILL BE MORE, THEN WALKING WILL BE EASIER
HENCE SMALLER STEPS ENSURE LARGER NORMAL FORCE

EXTRAPOLATING well, one slips on ice becuz of d low friction..so u need to increase d frictional force by increasing d normal rxn.
