How to solve Physics Problems?   Awaiting Review for Nickels
Tagged with:       [Post New]posted on 17 Apr 2008 21:47:34 IST
The problems asked in examinations such as in IIT-JEE, AIEEE, etc. are not only to test your concepts and knowledge in physics but also your skill in problem solving just like an engineer is called to solve the work place problems. The essence of the problems in any competitive exams can be clearly known only when one masters over the concepts of physics. One has to clearly visulise the given situation and try to effectively interpret it.

Problem solving in physics is as same as solving a jigsaw puzzle. You may not be able to solve it at your very first try. But have a confiedence that you can solve it. After all it just a problem.

You canot hope to solve a physics problem by simply writing down the correct formula and applying the correct reasoning for the first instance. You need to visulise the whole problem in your mind and then go for the relevent required steps to get the answer.
Here are some steps to slove physics problems:
Visualising the physical situation described and identifying the known and unknown quantities.
Designing a strategy.
Working out that strategy.
Check the resulting answer.
#  If possible try out for an alternative method to solve the problem.
Well these tips may be useful for the beginners and the real aspirants of IIT-JEE.
