hey my life is in tatters as well. so u arent alone after all!!!
im xpecting 135 in iit and 140 in aieee i got 88% in my boards which totally sux .
my belief is that life always offers a second chance to every1 . so if u and i and so many other ppl like 'us' work fr BITS there is a chance.
cheers!!!

I would suggest you to drop ONLY is you are confident you can make it.
The main drawbacks of drop are :
1. If you do not put in QUALITY and SATISFACTORY work from day 1 , tension will prevent you from studying harder.
2. Your classmates have already gone one year ahead of you. It creates pressure.
3. "Will I qualify this time?" shatters your confidence.
So , you should drop only if you think you can bear all this. See , your parents are against it now , but if you drop then definitely they will encourage you to work harder.
See , there is nothing like time to prepare etc. Quality of study is the factor that will get you in. This is because no question is ever repeated in IIT.
So if you are repeatiing follow the steps :
1. Concentrate on quality work. Solve 30 - 40 problems with full understanding (If it takes the whole of your time)
2. Do not take any tension. Assume that you are not appearing for any exam. You are interested in the topic and you want to study it. (It may fail initially , but works marvellously). You don't know the future , only way you can make it better is by working in the present. (i.e. study harder)
3. Try opening out every single thought with your parents.
IN case your parents still say a no to drop , get in some engineering college and prepare for IIT. Remeber , quality of studies is more important than quantity. There are people who have just studied for 4 - 5 hours for a year and yet succeeded in IIT.
Your parents know you better and probably their decison might be correct. Try to open out with them.
Wishing you success,
Sidd.

hey xyz..dnt lose heart if u didnt study properly in ur 1th and 12th..as for the decision regarding taking a drop,it all depends on u.r u sure tat if u take a drop u wud study very seriously for the next 1 year..do u feel after giving these examinatuions taT u cud hv done well had u studied properly..if the answer is yes..if u feel tat u can do well if u study sincerely..n u r pretty serious abt not studying in some champulal college of engineering..u can take a drop, dnt wry abt ur parents..i tnk it shud be ur decision entirely,it all depends on ur determination and ur self confidence,if u feel confident abt doing well the next time and r determined to work hard,go take a drop, but if u hv doubts abt urself..dnt take it.sometimes i nlife u ned to take risks..taking a drop is not a big one.am telling u by my experience

well freiend, look. iit aiee, bits etc. is not the whole of ur and our life. u have hell lot of options. my advice is consult ur parents in a very unusual(sad and depressed)way and cry ur heart out so that ur heart becomes lite. then ull get new ideas.

the main point is try real hard for bits!!!!
der is still time...............not much ............but its sufficient to do ok in it soince ur scores in iit and aieee r not very bad keepin in mind da papers wer tough this year...............
even i am getin damn scared since i wasted my entire 11th ............i dont have much tym remainin nor is der any coaching centre here.............
now getin on to ur problem........
i really hope u get some gud regional enggg colleges in ur place........and continue studin for iit and give another try in 2009 and u shud be bale to mange a decent rank and den ur parents will definatly have to allow u to join one of the colls u want (nit or iit) .......dat shud be ur aim since ur parents r not alowing u to drop/////......it would be very tough to mange engg coll stuff and iit together but i really think its ur last chance dat way.............but it wud really be great if u convince ur parents to drop becuz if u mange to do so u will have to do only iit stuff nad da coll work wont interfere it..............
i hope my sugestions have helped u..............
pls remeber............. try hard for bits this year!!!
all da best!
