if the radius of the octahedral void is r and theradius of the adjoining atoms is R.....


derive the relation between r and R??

From the figure it is clear that


\cos 45=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}=\frac{R}{r+R} \\ \\<br/>\sqrt{2}R=r+R \\ \\<br/>0.414R=r
