first translatory motion.

a body may either be in rotation, translation, or both simultaneously.

so translate means to move ALONG ANY PATH, but provided that the VELOCITIES of all the particles making up the body is same.

example: imagine a teacher dusting the blackboard with a duster. the duster moves left right, along curves and arcs, but it is undergoin translatory motion.(this is NOT linear motion)

if a body were rotating, different partices would have diff velocities.

inear motion is motion ALONG A STRAIGHT LINE. here also all particles have same velocity.

example: a straight line is as good an example as any.(this IS also translation)

so we can say that linear motion implies translation, but translation does not imply linear motion.

u said all particles of a body have the same VELOCITIES

can u justify it more clearly???

and is rotational motion a translatory motion????

Translational motion is the movement of an object through space without rotation.

translational motion may be defined as the motion in which a body moves from one place to another. It can be along different paths like straight line, curve....

and linear motion is a type of translational motion along a straight path...

Its simple in translatory motion all the particles of the body has velocity vector parallel or all the particles move in same direction.
While in rotatory motion all particles have velocity tangential to the body.
