the rate law is

rate=k [A] [B]1/2.

can the reaction be an elementary process?

answer:don't know

(before explaining the answer plz explain me the question first and what is the meaning of elementary in this statement?)

there are numerous options besides I.I.T

the reactions which take place in one step are called elementary reactions.

i dont think it can be determined whether it is an elementary reaction or not....

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

I also dont think, we can determine it just by the rate law.

As in the rate law--> Rate = K [A]^a[B]^b, the values of a and b are DETERMINED EXPERIMENTALLY.

The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.

It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.

well guys i know the answer now.as ashgirl(my dear sis) just said that elementary reactions take place in one step.therefore the order of reaction and molecularity should be same for these reactions(as my teacher told me).

order of this reaction is 3/2.but molecularity cannot be a fraction and hence this is not an elementary process.

(my teacher has taught for 5 years in FITJEE,so plz don't doubt her answer)
