No its not a guess , its the third one . ( I am 99.9 percent sure ....the remaining 0.1 % ..if the solution given in ur book is wrong )

yes third seems to be the ans (it's a guess) but if i assume that it is true then i think the given eq is not the eq of any conic it is the eq of combination of 2 conics of which 1 is a pair of straight lines(i think so)

well i wanted to reply long back but the page did not open any way now
the given eq can be factorised as (4x+2y+5) (x+y+1/2)+x^2+7/2=0.
so the required area is the area beetween 4x+2y+5=0 and x+y+1/2=0 andthe parabola x^2=-(y+7/2)
