i hav hrd abt dual degrees @ bits, plz clear some of my doubts.

1)Is a BE degree damn assured as a dual?Even the thought of getting BPhram with low cgpa has bcom a nightmare. How many of them usally gets BPharm?Or how difficult is it to get a good BE(EEE,CS,Mech)?

2)If a guy goes for MSc in Goa is he assured a BE as there is no BPharm in Goa?

3)If an MSc guy gets a BE @ d end of 1st yr,is he treatd d same way as in BE(Hons) counterparts,i mean during placements will he be put aside saying that  this guy was not capable enough to get BE in the 1st attempt,so he is not gud enough(discrimination)?Or is there any difference in the course structure of BE as dual and the normal BE?

4)A BE degree usually requires 4 yrs & MSc takes 2 yrs to complete. But in BITS the MSc+BE is finished in 5 yrs time.Doesn’t this mean more workload?

5)I hav been told that MSc Eco is gud coz its ezy to get gud cgpa @ d end of 1st yr.If 1st yr syll is comm. 2 all then why Msc Eco is preffrd?

6)the course structure of different programs r provided in the BITS site. only the course details of 2nd 3rd &4th yr r given(5th yr missing). If we do our MSc in  2nd yr& 3rd yr  when is the time 2 do the BE course?

7)An MSc guy getting EEE or CS @ d end of 1st yr is in a better position than a BE(Chem,Civil) guy inspite of the former scoring less than the latter in bitsat. Is this a bit unfair?

hii

well .. all these thngs are not tat confusing ..

first of all .. if u do aan MSC thn u will do tat .. y do u talk about BE degree ?? it is not useful anyways ..

regarding the course .. wat happens is tat the there is a lot of flexiblity in course structures, u do almost same course till about 3rd year and in 4th year choose few diff courses .. moreover in 5th year u will lot of project work ..

so thr is nothing bad about  5 year course ...  ok

cheers

@Puneet
At BITS , all students who are in MSc.(Hons) (P/C/M/Bio/Eco) get an assured BE Dual Degree. So they effectively pass out with MSc(Integ) and BE Degrees in 5 yrs .
Yes , the BEs are important. Not many people like pure MScs , but if you are getting a BE degree along with it , its great.
Please read my post:
http://www.goiit.com/posts/list/about-non-iits-msc-at-bits-complete-info-60182.htm

@Ajith and Maxzy
I had posted this earlier.
*********************************************************************************

1)Yes.Approx lowest 5% of the MSc Hons get B Pharma.55% will get CS/EEE/EnI , rest will get Mech , Civ, Chemical.
You have to be above avg to get EEE/CS

2)Yes thats absolutely true.Lowest at Goa is Chemical.

3)LOL , that never happens.
On the contrary , foreign univs look at the Dual Degree favorably. The guy has 2 degrees , that too from BITS.Its no joke , you know.

4)Nope.After the basic 2 yrs , you need 1 yr per new degree + Practice School/Thesis per degree

5)ALL MScs and BEs have exactly the same syllabus for the 1st yr.So getting a good CGPA is equally possible from any course.
No mSc Eco isnt that much preferrred , MSc Phy is the most pref.

6)You do your MSc in your 3rd yr , BE in your 4th yr and 5 th yr full is Practice SChool.

7) Yes , in a very advantagoeus position.
Unfair??Whats unfair?
He could have taken the MSc too.
His fault that he didn't do enough research into BITS.

Also BITS's fault for not being visible enough.

Also the media's fault for not discussing BITS's unique academic flexibilities.

Good questions by the way!!Hope you have read my MSc at BITS post.

I want to add a point here...there is bad notion about the M.Sc degrees we get that they are worthless and only B.E. is best...but our system is the core for interdisciplinary research and higher studies which actually is more advantageous than doing general engineering

Even our ex president Abdul Kalam when he visited our campus was very much impressed with this system and said that the future is in inter disciplinary research work itself
