what difference will opening of 3 new iits and obc quota have on air 2000-3000
|

There shudn't be much impact by the new iits as top 2000 wont go for the new ones. They'll get good branches in the existing 7 iits. Rather one would prefer IT-BHU over the new iits.
However the obc thing can make a difference. Some say, due to the obc candidates being left out from the general list and no. of seats remaining the same, the effective no of general seats may increase slightly. But no one has exact idea what the JAB is doing.

if one wants cs, mech, ece (at a rank under 2000), he can get it in the established iits as well. Atleast in IITR, IITG, ITBHU.

if u want gud branches, itbhu is a good option, which, as heard, will be soon declared an iit otherwise, go for civil/chemical at the old iits

i think ppl below 2k may go 4 cs or elec in d new iits as dey wnt gt in it IITR or IITG if dey r sumwhr in 1.5k.......
nt sure of mech.............
as far as obc r concerned........i dnt think ne1 knws hw mny obc candidates qualified lst yr thru GEN category.....so predictin wud b difficult....

an air of 3345 has an obc rank of 433...... so i expect there 2 b arond 200 obc below 2k the abov rank is of a person i know also obc rank 12 has air 191 so lets hope there 2 b more seats in general....
