I am interested in doing B.E. Mechanical. But my parents and friends suggest me to take ECE saying that  it has got a better scope.

Experts, plz suggest me which one to take.

Also tell me about the placements of Mechanical at Anna University, Chennai.

it is indeed the base.....if u feel u dont get a good pay after ur term..........u can always have field wide open to study further and study any engineering brnach

yup mech. is good.

Anachan, as far as stats go ECE is a more sought after course than mechanical. But mechanical is not bad either and if you want you can persue it if you feel very strongly.
And finallyI have no idea about Anna University.

If you are good there is a scope in each branch and mech is not bad as far as scope is concerned, it is just that E&C is bettter. However you might do better and excel more whereever you want to rather than where you aree forced to. I would suggest find out more about both engginering, their scopes, application, syllabus, talk to experts/engg in the field and then you can make the decision.
