why does electric field intensity between the plates of capacitor descreases on introducing insulating plate b/w
the plates of capacitor???

Becoz permittivity of a medium is less than that of vacuum/air.

this is because opposite charge is induced at the surface of of insulating plate ..and it has electric field in direction opposite to the original one..hence the final electric field indie the plates decreases..

@ tarin
i think permittivity of a medium >of vacuum/air.
absolute permittivity of medium = k* permittivity of vaccum .......right ??
k >1
so permittivity of a medium >of vacuum/air.
m i right ??

n also electric field intensity between plates
= charge density (sigma) /permittivity
n permittivity of a medium > of vacuum/air.
therefore electric field intensity between the plates of capacitor descreases on introducing insulating plate b/w the plates of capacitor

when we insert the insulating plate the electrons inside the insulating plate arrange themselves in such a fashion that they create a field
in the direction opposite to the filed that was in capacitor before inserting the plate
hence the resultant field decreases coz of generation of field in
opposite direction...

du to the induced charges in the insulator, the net force per charge (electric field) decreases..
