It matters a lot how much have you studied and what kind of prep you had before getting this rank. I am telling you a live story of a girl whose mother my mother met. She had qualified in IIT EML last year. She took a full drop I guess. Gave IIT this time again. Calculated her marks according to Brilliant. She was getting around 240. She was sure she would get it. She got NOT QUALIFIED in IIT. After a full drop.
So if you haven't studied much or your prep is not that good then you may be able to improve on that rank, otherwise you may end up even loosing it. I would say go for BITS, it is very good. Study for both college and JEE, if you get it, then consider IIT else it hardly matters.

A college which is going to have its 1st session this time cant be a good option. No matter what anyone says.
@akshay Are you the same akshay on nsitlounge ?

First session had no real meaning. Just look at goa campus, how well it is doing.

IIIT Hyd CS..placements...faculty...being in IT hub of India...talk of any damn thing...and please stop talking baseless without facts. Talk facts else dont misguide him. Bring the faculty f both colleges, placements, research..city environment..
Edit: I am too tired of this. IIIT Hyd CS is best thats why its 100 so seats close within 1450 rank in aieee which has all IIT giving people competiting too. And IIIT Hyd CS is much harder to get than bits goa cs too. I am realyl tired arguing uselessly here. I am out. for the final time.

BITS is very good and in any ranking above IIIT. Besides any body prefers Pilani to IIIT any day. No comparisons.
Even Goa is coming up really fast. Expect it to stand with Pilani in the next 4 years. Faculty wise I doubt BITS is a problem and infra should be superb.
IIIT H had an avg placement of just 5.5lacs and max 9.5 lacs wihhci is little for a pure IT institute which seems to be the best option.

thanks all for ur replies.... well by atmosphere i mean drugs alcohol and
those kind of things.... my mother says she has heard many bad stories abt
bits...... so thats y .... and @ akshaytalwar2 this is a LOONG post but plz
see and assess my situation... basically i didnt do a full prep at all.... i
wasted all my time in 11th in extracurricular activities... and only in the
12th summer hols i got the "josh" becoz my mother pushed me..... then i
learnt nicely throughout the hols and once school started i again stopped and
picked up only in september-october...but by then all mock tests had started
and i didnt have any practise...i didnt know half of physics and mathematics
and almost nothing in chem...so i wrote my first mock test and got 77
percentile...i was shattered.... i realised that for iit jee just having
brains is not enough (im not trying to boast i am giving my honest opinion)
so then once again i came back with a vengeance and i dunno what happened but
i was sitting daily till 3 o clock in the midnight till my eyes were red doing
ml khanna problems and i was finishing around 150 -200 problems per day.... i
finished whole of complex numbers in ml khanna and upto that point i was
under estimating practise.... but due to this hard work i ended up suddenly
jumping to 94 percentile in my next mock test and i got 71/81 in one maths
paper (actually i cud have got full but the paper also consisted of coordinate
geometry and i had 0 confidence in that) then after that i started preparing
somewhat seriously and started little of physics but then my stupid school
exams came and i lost the flow again... then december onwards i started again
and upto that point my status was this... maths 40% properly done hardly any
practise (thousands of problems left in ml khanna and my institute material)
... physics mechanics dunce and rest ok very little practise (hadnt done any
problems from hc verma only handful) and my concepts were very weak in
electricity and magnetism and all the later topics... i hadnt even touched
those topics in hc verma till then....
then i thought no i cant be like this and i have got to work hard ...so i
picked up hc verma and in 2 days i went through EVERY CONCEPT in both the
volumes just by reading and no problems done .. (i am pretty quick in grasping
concepts).....but even then i had got only knowledge and not much confidence
to solve problems.. then i solved just TWO problems in mechanics and i
understood the whole of mechanics...i dunno how but i understood everything
clearly ... rotational mechanics pulleys springs u name it.... then from that
day i got real happiness and interest and i started solving many problems....
then i took one class test in mechanics which i had taken one year earlier and
this time i got 90/90 in which i had got only 34/90 last time !!!!!! full
marks! then i got lot of confidence and started taking part in many mechanics
related discussions in goiit ..( u can see my posts) but by now it was january
feb and my board exams were nearing ...so i thought ok lets learn other topics
and started doing few problems in maths and phy ..but still i didnt know the
BASICS of chem ....
so like this it went on and no matter how hard i tried i never got more than
92 percentile in any test and this was frustrating. most of the time it was
becoz i hadnt known the particular formula for a question... so now my
confidence was dropping and i took a dip in my percentiles ...they went to 87
and seeing myself in the 80s was devastating ..i thought maybe thats it im
gone... and in between i got the postal tests of brilliants but i didnt have
time to do them...and then suddenly my board exams cropped up and i stopped
iit prep... unfortunately im in TN state board which i think is one of the
worst education systems in the world... . all one has to do is mug and vomit
info on the paper...and the syllabus especially in chem is nothing like cbse
so it doesnt help for iit prep at all luckily i am super fast in memorising
and within 20 days i mugged up all the required info in all subjects and ended
up getting an ok 94% in my boards....
now after the board exam my situation was like this .... physics mechanics and
related classical physics concepts 95-100 % confident ...rest of the topics
VERY less prep and practise.... maths quite ok but almost no practise
(compared to some guys who had finished ml khanna and were working day and
night from 11th)
and chemistry just 30% done... i had no idea of even the basic concepts i
think...(by basic i mean i knew all the basic concepts for the school level
syllabus but not for iit level) .... then i started doing the brilliant mock
tests one every day but they were too easy and i used to get 350+/486 in most
tests ....then in the last one week i started SPEED mugging up the WHOLE DAMN
portions in chem from pradeep's publications.... its a damn thick book ....and
in the mean time i was doing some problems here and there from my material in
all topics then 1 day before jee my situation was physics 80% done maths
60% done not thoroughly and chemistry 50 percent not at all thorough as all
the info was stored in my short term memory... then the day before jee i
mugged up all the formulae in the 3 subjects and went through environmental
chemistry in the last minute till midnight...
then d day arrived... i was HIGHLY tensed and lacking confidence as i was
aspirirng to be a top ranker but didnt do the prep for it and in my recent
test i got a HORRIBLE percentile of 82 .... and i was taking bmat tests...
then when the iit paper arrived and i opened it it looked EXACTLY like the
bmat papers and that was the final blow....on seeing the first question my
mind started spinning and unfortunately maths was tough so there was no
respite...so for 50 WHOLE minutes i cud not answer at all i only finished some
10-problems in mathematics then i saw physics and became calm and then chem
was a nightmare... then paper 2 was a similar disaster and here the worst part
is...i lost 15 marks in a physics comprehension in my FAVOURITE topic
rotational mech and it was due to a single plus sign instead of minus (u cant
understand how tensed i was) so like this i lost around 50 marks overall in
iit jee due to extreme tension... and after coming out i thought im done for i
wont get iit....i was getting around 230-240 marks and i thought i wont even
get in eml.. but then i saw the pedictions and was happy that i could get at
least 3000 rank ... but as usual predictions went wrong and i got 3819..... i
was feelng miserable ..if i had been at my best performance i cud have scored
50 marks more and surely i could have got in top 2000 if not top 1500...
anyway after the iit jee i was devstatd and i thought what the hell man u can
face any exam in the world u are the best... and somehow lost all my tension
and fear... now this is not a joke but for all the upcoming exams like aieee
bitsat and viteee i didnt TOUCH my books literally... i didnt even go through
one formula and thought ah let the world go to hell i havent done well in iit
jee so why shud these exams matter..... so i just went and wrote SO calmly u
can say it was the EXACT opposite of my feeling during jee.... and then when i
came out of the exam hall i KNEW i had done well... it was just a feeling
which i didnt have during jee somehow.... and then i started enjoying life
watching movies playing music drawing etc and didnt touch my books for a month
and wrote bitsat for the heck of it and got 347 .... (i didnt attempt the
extras else surely 370+) and meantime i wrote viteee too and got 353
air...... so after all this i again got confidence and realised im among the
best... but i still cudnt get over the tragedy of iit jee i had prepared
overall only for 6-8 months for iit jee... hardly adequate.... so im sure
after all this u can be certain that with proper preparation and HARD WORK ( i
think a word i found too late in my dictionary) i can easily get in the top
500 or even top 200 of iit jee.... i have the confidence....

From what I infer, you seem to be capable. All you need is dedication and right direction(in terms of books, material etc). If you take a full drop you are sure to make it to top 1000 if not top 100-200. However there is another way too.
Join BITS Pilani. Study 2-4hrs per day for JEE. Study well for college and whatever part is in JEE do that well so that it is complete. The extra JEE prep will complete the things that you won't cover otherwise. In holidays try to study 10-14 hrs per day for JEE and before the JEE, take 1-2 months off and study solely for JEE. This way you will do okay in ur first year college and I feel there is a chance that you may make it to even top 1000 as all you need is some brushing up, improvements here and there and confidence.
You can do it!
