IIT JEE , AIEEE Forum - Institutes & Courses , Non IIT Institutes - Enggg Physics in iit guwahati or Electronics in NIT Surathkal ??..Pls Help!!

its not like that, an IIT tag is enough to place you above any NIT.... yes engineering physics is a research oriented branch and has a very bright future after MS however, as i said it is a research oriented field...moreover, you can try to study hard and get a better branch at iit guwahati itself

Thats a common misconception...I m not speaking of any NIT...i m speaking of NIT Trichy, Warangal, Suratkal...these cols have nearly all da comps that cum 2 campus in iits...the ave salaries also dont vary much...1 to 1.25 lpa....the diff is not due to package, but due to no of students...while an iit may get 12-15 students in , say, Google, those NITs get 8-10....Brand name matters for GRE....bcoz the recos of IIT profs are more valuable...n for MBA, BTech doesnt matter in da least.
N ya...dont even think about branch change...its very tough n u need a lot of luck....very few guys can change it.

You have got a very tricky option to deal with.

Look electronics at nit suratkhal is a very good option indeed.

Now listen to this carefully, Go for engg physics IF YOU like physics.Stop listening to people.Close your eyes think about it.Do u see urself doing research in physics. Do you like to study physics for the rest of your life.

You have to understand that when u pick specifics fields like these you must be in mood to do masters and beyond. There will be alot of scope for this but you wont go anywhere with it if you dont LIKE IT.

4 yrs down NOT picking the iit tag wont hurt u that much being at suratkhal but if you pick engg physics at guwahati and feel suffocated by all the pure science topics, you might feel bad about it later.

So pick what YOU think is right for you and forget about what everybody is saying bout it .

In my opinion IIT tag does not matter more .

DO YOU KNOW IN 3 TO 4 YRS THERE WILL BE AROUND 16-17 IIT AND THEN IITIANS WILL BE LIKE CATS AND DOGS SO I WOULD TELL YOU TO TAKE NITS( I.E A GOOD BRANCH RATHER THAN .............)
