i dont mean to confuse u......... but the faculty of eee in bits is the best in asia.... moreover it is a fact dat most students aim to da mba after b.tech at the begining of their terms, but their enthusiasm evaporates exponentialy during the four years..... all i want to suggest is that eee is a great branch, and even if u do mba, the bits tag is not far behind the iit tag and moreover u never know abt the new iits.... and again u r absolutely sure to get eee in bits, coz last year the cutoff was 346 n probably it will drop this year.........chose carefully....
rate if useful

Remember one thing, if you do MBA from a good school then whichever school you did your BTech from doesn't matter that much, especially if the MBA is in a completely diff subject than your bachelors. However personally an IIT tag won't hurt and if you don't get through IIM A and have to do from other IIMs or IITs etc, then the BTech degree might count a little more as oppsed to from a top notch MBA school.

yeah i completely agree wid u akshay bcoz i'm not sure 2 qualify IIM-Ahmd & might do my MBA from NUS(Singapore) if selected.Dats d reason i wanna become an IITian as I've dropped a year & I think dat after dropping a year if one can get a gud branch from an IIT in a very gud city, he shud prefer IIT as it can help me at NUS interview. Moreover Hyd. cant be compared with other IIT locations like patna, bhuvaneshwar(orissa),rupnagar(punjab),chankheda(Guujrat, near Ahmedabad),etc...Till last year AIR 2707 cudnot even dream of getting Mech. at any IIT(even Guwahati).Ofcourse if i had a choice btwn IT-BHU & BITS I wud have opted fer BITS... AIR 3845 in JEE-08(Rg. No.4084315) got Mech at BHU,last year's closing rank fer Mech. BHU=3280,almost a shift of 600 wich proves dat JEE qualifiers r preferrin new IITs over BHU wich is over 100 years old!!!

IIMs(CAT) is an IQ test unlike IIT where hard work necessarily pays. If you have the ability, a little right direction and some help via coaching/books and some luck will crack the CAT for you. IIT is something totally different. Ask your teachers or mentors or other people who you think can decide whether you are capable or not for IIM A. Basically selection rate for IIM A is 99.7%ile or something like 1 in a 1000 or 1 in 3000 among the common public(given that people giving CAT on average are more intelligent than the average Indian).

I am not even talking about BITS. I am talking of CAT and IIMs. Anyway, IIT is a brand value in India and BITS comes second, as a brand.

Its fer everyone present here dat I've nevr underestimated BITS,My dad works in INDO GULF FERTILISERS.(an Aditya BIrla company)BITS belongs 2 KK Birla(Aditya BIrla's brother)So dere's no question of doubting BITS' stature & credilbility. But I wud like 2 tell u dat wen i told my dad's boss dat i was selected in BITS on 23rd may (My BITSAT was on 22nd may) he immediately asked wid a wicked smile "KYON IIT MEIN SELECTION NAHI HUA KYA?? YA RANK ACHCHI NAHI AAYI???"(Actually his own son cudnt qualify IIT in both da attempts..05& 06)Den i told him dat d result wasnt yet announced..Dats the mentality of people, dey think if U go 2 BITS den U mustnt have qualify IIT-JEE or ur musnt have got a gud rank....Idont think any one wud ever in his life dropped a year fer BITS even though BITS is bettr dan roorkee & guwahati & obviously will be better than all the new IITs as well....Brand image of IIT is above BITS not bcoz IITians r bettr dan BITSians but bcoz JEE is more difficult than BITSAT & consequently becomming IITian is more difficult dan becommin BITSian

BITS P EEE will be a better option than IIT Hyd( maindak ) mech
even BITS G EEE will be better.
come on IIT hyd will take at least 10-15 years to reach the level of the old IITs
guwahati has still not done it
IIT Guwahati had 40% placements in its 1st year. if you want to risk that then go.

I don't think that IIT G had only 40% placements in its first year. Any links to prove the same. Not possible!!!

hey .. see from ur repliies it seems clearly that u r biased towards iit .. nd itz pretty natural for the rank u have got nd that too after dropping a yr so iit wud matter a lot o u ... but wt most of the ppl are not able o see here is .. true iit tag matters nd iit tag has a lot of advantages ... but r u ready to stuck up in a place with just an iit tag nd nothing else ??? here i wud agree with what bits 360 has put .. the campus culture .. belleive me all that differs a clg is itz culture .. afterall that is what makes iit delhi iit delhi .. the profs nd funding etc. comes at a later stage .. just consider the fact that gng to hyd etc. .. a completely new place with no culture whatsoever .. so u have optins to make ur own .. sonds exciting right ?? i m afraiid it isnt that easy .. the place sets the tone for ur mindset .. to tell u a yr back i gave my entrannces nd i go t thru everywhere ... had biotech in iit roorkee nd eee in bits pilani .. both places well set nd noen but i dint have the courage to go into biotech so went into eee .. a yr down pilani has modifiesd my mindset a lot .. nd i will hold it up to the culture of the place see no doubt iit hyd will do well in coming yrs cz of backing up nd iit etc.. but remember u have 4 yrs to study NOW .. not 10 yr ahead .... what u will become for ur coming yrs is now i am not being biased being a bitsian .. just trying to make u see it from a better side than just the tag .. hope it helps .. rest lies on u

Well the JEE was a much tougher exam but in the last 2 years , its level has come down significantly. There are plenty of JEE qualifiers at BITS too.But thats not the issue. As long as you score in top 2K to 10K all India in various entrance exams , you are more or less similar in your abilities. Now it depends on your college , what it can give you. Frankly , MOST of you guys have no clue about what BITS is .I don't blame you , there is hardly any hype about it. IIT-H will do well in its 1st year of Placements. But no way will it be able to match any of the older IITs or BITS.
Let me tell you one thing: In the Industry and among Foreign Univs, BITSians are as respected as the IITians , but among the gen public , IIT>BITS. You'll realise this once you join college(Just as I did). But still , the decision is your.Wherever you go , do your best.
