HAi friends this story was not written by me but its a very gud story that how a person is cheated so pl read it fully u vil surelly like ittttttt

BLIND

It was the last train. The station had seen almost all the passengers off. But a few were still dragging their luggage off the platform where the Rajadhani had dropped them. They all kept moving fast, still in the mood of the Rajadhani, I thought. Only a few familiar faces stood on their respective shoulders here and there. They were guarding themselves from the chill breeze by rolling mufflers and putting on monkey-caps. The cold had reached it’s height as the mid-winter had just begun. They were all waiting, along with me, for the last set of wheels on the rails - A Push-Pull to Honnavar.

It was 11:30 on a Saturday night. The train was scheduled to arrive by then, but the punctual delay of 15 minutes had given the regular passengers a different schedule. I strolled down the platform to the tea stall. I sat down on a bench close to it and was waiting for the lemon tea that I ordered. It had become a routine-I had to sip a cup before the tea-man packed up for the day. He would wait otherwise till the train left the platform, to know that I didn't want it that day. The stall was just out of the lee of the platform from there the whole platform could be seen.

I saw people shrinking in the cold with anticipated looks on their faces, seeing at the far off tunnel like one looks for a plumber's snake to come out of the pipe. Some had even dozed off on the benches. The sound of the train would alarm them-probably, I thought. By now, the station had almost calmed leaving only those waiting for the last train. Most of them were factory workers who had late shifts.

I turned away from the platform to check out what was it like there, on the other side. I saw someone at a distance moving towards me or rather towards the platform. He had covered himself in a dark blanket and was coming very slowly. I kept watching him and his background where the industrial area was smoking the skies. I guessed he could be one of those late workers getting back home. As he came closer, I learnt that he was in his early 30s, tall, fair and broad. He came and sat next to me and called out to the tea-man "Make one tea soon". He settled down adjusting his blanket and asked me "Hello, how are you?" I said "Fine, thanks" though I had a slight fever, a bad throat and a blocked nose! "Are you new here?" he asked searching for something in his hand bag. Now that was something I thought I should have asked him. I said "No, but I am around this place for a month now and I've..... ".He interrupted "Ah, That’s why, that is why I asked you. If you were anyone, I knew a month back, I would have recognized you. I didn't get what he said initially but then asked "You mean you weren't here for a month for some reason or something?" He grinned and said "No, It is like I stopped seeing a month back. In fact I was made to." I nodded but thought why the man was so confusing. I hesitated asking him anything more about that, thinking he would take me for a dumbo.

The tea was ready. Both of us finished it soon after we heard the train at a distance and then saw it coming out of the tunnel at the far end. I asked him "To Honnavar?" "Yes, and I guess you too?" he asked. I nodded. He packed everything up and started to move to the platform. The train now had slowed down and was coming to a halt. As we kept moving he asked me "Don't you think you are confused?" I was surprised hearing that. I asked "Confused-why do you think so?" He grinned again and said "Otherwise you would have asked me how I lost my eyesight!"

Now this man was really confusing. He didn't give me a damn clue that he was BLIND. It was then that I realized what he meant by saying 'stopped seeing'. I stared at him "Sorry to hear that, but you were just great. I mean you didn't give me a clue", I said. "I've been practicing it and people tell me that I am a quick learner besides it’s not all that tough to move around in dark, in a place that you live in. I am so much used to this place. It’s not tough. If you wish, try to do your routine with your eyes shut and I bet you'll do it better than what you are doing now!"

I laughed at it but he was serious. We got on to the train and moved in. Even I became blind after I got in. It was darker inside and my eyes took a little while to get used to the light (or rather dark). The passage led us in and to the right corner we entered into the compartment. There was nobody there. I moved up to the seat and searched for the man to help him to his seat but to my surprise he wasn't there. I looked around and he was nowhere. I didn't know where he went. He kept talking to me till the last minute. I walked back to the entrance through the passage and looked out and didn't see him. I stepped on the footboard and saw both sides. I kept wondering where he went and got back in to the compartment. I had my heart in my mouth for a second as I saw the man sitting next to the window silently in the compartment.

"Hey you scared me", I exclaimed. "Where have you been?" he asked me. "Oh that’s great, you have been asking questions that I need to ask you. I went searching for you. Where did you go?" "Nature call" he said as a matter of fact, "I guess you didn't know there was a loo to the left of the passage when you got in." I knew there was one but I didn't know he knew it.

I went and sat facing him next to another window. He was looking out of the window-(Oh no, let me put it this way)-he was facing the window. The train started to move slowly. It was the slowest train I had ever traveled in and would take nearly two hours to drop us home. I asked him "So, how did it happen? You said you could see a month back. Didn't you?" Before he spoke we heard someone getting in and I turned to the door.

I saw a man who had just got in, while the wheels had started to move slowly. He had some problems getting in but finally made it. He stretched his hand and searched for the seat. His head was slightly raised and he had a long thin stick held in his right armpit. This man was a complete contrast to the one who sat in front of me. This man gave me all the clues that he was BLIND. I thought the craziest thing would be if this man said he wasn't, after he settled down! The man in front of me (Oh, come on...., this is really getting tough. So ..)

I asked him "Oh I am sorry I didn't get your name." "Gupta..., Shyam Gupta" he said after I gave him my name. He asked who it was who had come in and I said "Your contrast!" but later made it clear. I thought I should help the person reach his seat but hesitated. He came and sat next to me. He was very lean and dark. He wore an old, untidy, dark coat. His hair was tangled. His shabby looks only told me that he was young but didn't give any idea about his age. I kept talking to Mr. Gupta and this person just remained a sculpture. He sat there silently and didn't give us a damn. I thought I should involve him in the conversation but hesitated again. I don’t know why but something kept me suspicious about the man. I kept talking to Gupta while he introduced himself to the sculpture "Hello Mr....., I am Gupta, how are you doing?" He took a while in responding. Lifting his chin up and pushing his exaggerated hair back over his head that had dropped on his eyes, he stretched his hand and said "Hello I am Maxell". He had a harsh creepy tone. We both shook hands with him. Then he got back to his stature.

I personally did not want to ask him anything. I looked out of the window and now the train had picked up its maximum speed. Everything outside the window seemed to move slowly and the cold breeze had started to hit my face. The train picked up speed and left the station. Just in 5 minutes, we were out of the town. It was embellished darkness both in and out. It was the color of silence. The only light inside was the moon light. That was actually enough for me to see things, though it didn't matter much to the other two. I saw Maxell put his hand into his coat pocket and search for something. Then he removed a small bottle of XXX rum .When he had tried to take it out, I saw something drop off his pocket without his notice. It was a small packet of some stuff which I couldn't guess. I told him about it. "Oh shit!" he exclaimed and quickly took it and pushed it back into his pocket. I asked him what it was. "Brownies", he said. "Do you take dope?" he asked me. I said “No. I don't.” Then he stretched his half-emptied bottle to me and offered. I said "No thanks, I don’t". He shrugged and offered Mr. Gupta. Mr. Gupta was just about to take it but something flashed in my mind and I interrupted. I said a little loud "No...No, Mr. Gupta doesn't booze" and pulled his hand back.

I saw surprised looks on both their faces. They didn't know why I did that. Maxell just smiled and said "OK. Alright", and continued with the other half. I could see Gupta still looking surprised and needing answers. I got up and sat next to Gupta. He asked me "But what happened?" I told him to lower his voice. Meanwhile Maxell noticed that I had shifted and he moved close to the window where I sat before. He concentrated hard outside the window and the booze kept him busy. I told Gupta that there was something fishy about the guy. I told him "I didn't want you to take his offer recollecting what happened to me a few days back." He asked me "What, what happened?" I started to recollect and narrate.....

"You know I never trust these strangers. Like today, it was also a Saturday night. I was getting back home at around the same time in this very train. I was alone in the compartment and would have been alone all the way and safe if the train hadn't halted there for an extra 20 minutes for some problem in the engine. I just kept looking out of the window when I heard a man get in. He was BLIND. I helped him to his seat. He looked a pretty decent guy, dressed well. The train had moved and we talked to each other for some time and I thought I had a good company.

He asked me if I had dined. I nodded. He then removed a can of fruit juice from his hand bag and offered me. I hesitated but then took it after he forced me for a little. I finished the drink talking to him asking about him and letting him know things about me. Then after sometime I started to get a buzz. My eyes started to fade and I felt a hard pain in my head. Then the only thing I remember was to let the man know what was happening to me. I don’t know it was the buzz or what but I saw the man laughing, looking at me while I collapsed and saying something. But I could not hear him properly. My eyes, ears everything by that time had gone numb. Then I fainted. I didn't know what happened there after.

The next time I opened my eyes; I saw the blue cloudy sky and heard the sound of the breeze that came from the trees around me. I was flat in an open field, lying flat. But then I recognized that it was the field that was close to my house. I got up with the little energy I had and as I got up I felt a bad ache in my tummy. I ignored it and started towards my house. On my way I kept wondering what might have happened. Why was I lying in a field? Only thing I last remembered was me telling the man about the severe head ache I had and the man laughing wildly and saying something which I couldn't hear.

I got back home and came to know from the date on the papers that it all happened three days back. That meant I was unconscious for 3 long days. I was looking sick and wanted a bath badly. When I went to bath and undressed, I was shocked seeing a thick long scar on my abdomen. That was the thing that was paining me all that time. I had no idea how it had appeared. I dressed up and hurried to see a doctor. He examined and then asked me what had happened to me two nights back. When I told him the whole scene till I had seen it, he narrated the next half that I hadn't seen. He told me that my Kidney was removed!"

I saw Mr. Gupta's mouth drop down and he was shocked to hear me but I didn't know what shocked him that much. He spoke in a low tone "Oh, Sorry, that’s really bad. But that’s not a new story to me. You asked me sometime back how I lost my eyes; if we weren't disturbed then I would have told you something very similar to what happened to you."

"Oh really", I exclaimed. By then Maxell woke up. He had dozed off with his head rested on the window railing. We had reached a town. The train slowed down and stopped at the station. Seeing Maxell wake up, we kept quite. He got up and went out.

He came back very soon with a pack of plain cake in his hand. He got back to his place and cut opened the pack. He then offered both of us but we both refused at once. He grinned and said "Strange" and turned back to the window. We kept quite until he munched and again napped. Then I asked Gupta eagerly "Yes, what happened to you?" He started.

"It was not much different from what you said. In fact it was all the same except for the few changes like it was my eyes for your kidney. It was also a Saturday night and this was the train and the same sort of a guy. The only other difference was that I woke up in a hospital but that didn't matter as I couldn't see where I was when I woke up. Only those people who had picked me up from a street told me that they had admitted me to the hospital."

I was sorry for the man. He continued, "But I think the bugger was a little unfair with me. I would have been a lot grateful to him if he had removed one of my kidneys rather than my eyes." I frowned and looked out of the window. It was another town .This was the last stop before the train finally would drop us at Honnavar. The train slowed and instantly Maxell woke up again. The train stopped. Maxell got up and picked up his belongings. "Nice meeting you guys, Good night" he said and started to move towards the door. As he just stood near the door, he turned back and said "Ah I forgot, sorry, both your stories were pathetic. I had a similar one too. I would have probably told you guys if you hadn't taken me for that bugger!!!" he said and got off the train. I saw him zooming out from the window.

It was just a 5 minutes journey from this town to Honnavar. We both laughed slightly and I asked Gupta "Hey, do you think he was true?" Gupta said, "It’s tough, I'll never try to judge that." He continued "But never the less you are a lucky man, you just lost one of your kidneys and you can still live normally with the other one in place. And I lost both my eyes and I'll be blind till death." He said that and just lost control for a second. His head fell on his knees. Then he straightened and put both his hands on his forehead. He started to make aching sounds and told "Ahhh.....my head is severely aching. I don’t know what’s wrong. Please do something."

I got up and sat on the other side facing him. I stretched my hands back, laughed wildly and said "Great, It worked and worked at the right time!!" "Wha.., what did you say?" he asked. I laughed again and said, "Now you are lucky too Mr. Gupta. You were just a while back so keen to give one of your kidneys away. Weren’t you? I badly needed one too. I was wondering why the drug in your tea didn't work but it did work and worked at the right time. I didn't want this to happen when Maxell was here. And man you know it’s boring to hear something from you that I had myself done to you. That’s why I told you something that was going to happen to you next. I helped you in two ways. One, I gave you a nice story that will turn out to be true and you may narrate it to someone later. Two, I made it easy for you to tell me what happened to you. I am sorry Mr. Gupta I had to stop you from the booze that Maxell offered. That is always risky. It could have had any side effects on my drug. Besides I knew Maxell before, you know I needed two pair of eyes then."

By that time he had fallen on the seat. He still had a little consciousness but not enough to escape. The station had come and the train slowed and stopped. I lifted the man and giving him support, carried him out of the train.

Two days later...................

It’s today, the day I am writing this. Two nights back I carried the man to my lab from the train and started to operate on him. It’s a big process. Everything was fine I removed his right kidney and stitched him back. I used his kidney for the purpose I had to. Today morning the man still remained unconscious. I knew it will take a few more hours for him to get back his conscious. So I decided to carry him and drop him somewhere near his place. But before that I thought I should examine him once. I checked the functioning of his other kidney and that shocked me to hell. I was taken over by what I found. His other kidney was 60 percent damaged and he will not live with that one for long. So I hurried and put him into Dialysis. He is now still under Dialysis and he'll be until I find another kidney for him. So, how was your morning drink?
