which is stronger bond :ionic bond or covalent bond? different books give different answer?
if ionic bond is supposed to be stronger.
- why strong electrolyte dissociate completely while ithave ionic bond?
- why covalent compounds are very hard?

it dissociate completely in polar medium because ionic bonds are polar while covalent are non-polar

Covalent bond is stronger bond (ex. in diamond)

I think Ionic and Covalent Bonds are two different types of bonds & you cant compare them. In some cases Ionic bond is stronger while in others Covalent Bond is stronger because different chemicals make up those two bonds and also the bond energies concerning them are almost same. Hence it depends on the compounds given and therefore s7s7s7 your getting diff answers in diff books.

SEE....IONIC BOND IS WEAK IN POLAR COMPOUNDS OR AQUEOUS SOLUTION ND STRONG IN NATURE AS AS MORE POLARITY THEY HAVE MORE CHANCES OF IONISING THEMSELVES IN SOLVENTS OF DIELECTRIC CONSTANTS WHEREAS COVALENT COMPOUNDS DO NOT HAVE HIGH BOND STRENGHT.....

ionic bond is always stronger than covalent bond .diamond is hard because of its structure not due to its bond.the formation of bond is at atomic level .hence its strength is determined by the atomic interactions .
