Benzene highly saturated molecule due to resonance..............it undergoes oxidation with air/oxygen and give .either maleic anhydride or phenol depending upon the ratoi of reactants

Benzene is not saturated....saturation falls in aliphatic category...benzene is jst aromatic class f compounds...whre singhle bond acquires double bond charactr nd double bond acquires single bond charactr...I havnt read nywhre regardin oxidation of benzene...so if ny1 knows it plzz tell the source!

benzene does not show test for unsaturaiton with cold alk.KMnO4 due to delocalization of pie e~.

but benzene does not decolourise bromine water due to its high degree of unstaturation ...really confused ...help

It is very hard to oxidize Benzene and it is not possible under normal conditions! Most probably it gets oxidizes in highly basic medium! Resonance being the reason!
BUT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO OXIDIZE BENZENE BY ATMOSPHERIC OXYGEN!

ya i think because a partial double bond(sp2 charac) is way stronger than a single sigma bond
