Increasing number of suicides in IIT........
Hi friends this is Kulwinder Singh from IIT Kanpur (1st Year). I am right now doing my four year btech course
in civil engineering. Most of the students who crack IIT and got admission in any IIT thought that after
selected for IIT their task is over but remind you friends the workload increases like an exponential curve.
First of all students thought of wasting the first year on masti as they want to relax themselves after doing
a great hardwork in cracking JEE. I too agree to it but it doesn`t goes on like it. On my first day at IIT i saw a
poster regarding formation of a anti suicidal commitee to know the various reasons for commiting
suicides. I was little bit confused on hearing from the seniors that atleast one or two suicides happen each
semester. Why..........? Is their parents expecting this from them only? Being unable to excel in exam can
make a manso downtroden. But one can prevent all this by doing their studies side by side. There are a lot
of extra curricular activities and beside these there are a lot of technical festivals. Ya i forget to mention
recently there was a suicide by a IIT Delhi girl for being unable to fulfil her parents dreams.
So don`t get depressed there are lot of chances in life. this life is not so petty. Its costs larger for others
than you. Bye take care.
