Both Centre of Mass as well as Centre of gravity may lie inside or outside the body depending upon the distribution of masses in the body.

YES CENTER OF GRAVITY CAN BE OUTSIDE THE BODY.BUT CENTER OF MASS CANNOT BE OUTSIDE BODY.WHILE STUDYING MOMENT OF INERTIA,U WILL UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE?

IF DISTRIBUTION OF MASS IS SYMMETRIC THEN CENTER LIES IN GEOMETRICAL CENTER...
IF NOT THEN CENTER MAY LIE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DEPENDING ON THE GEOMETRY OF DISTRIBUTION.
EG: HOLLOW CYLINDER,CIRCULAR RING HAVE THEIR CENTER OF GRAVITY IN THEIR GEOMETRICAL CENTER WHICH IN HOLLOW.
