u should know about your country .....and u can argue same about history too but then again u should know abt ur country too.....all in all social is to make u aware about ur country

MAP DRAWING hmmmmmmmmmmm just 2 d know abt d physical world as well ....i mean beyond theoretical dings dat we usually study....moreover...many exams like dat of IAS , IFS,IPS includes knowledge of ur geography....so map drawing inc ur grasping pwr.....it helps ya...MAP DRAWING always help
not everthing u do has a theoritical value..but things like these give u practical experience to cope with frustrations and to do stuff u hate the most..a very handy trait indeed..
