The equation of the smallest circle the point of intersection of the line x+y=1 and the circle x2+y2=9 is a. x2+y2+x+y-8=0 b. x2+y2-x-y-8=0 c. x2+y2-x+y-8=0 d. none of these.

look. x+ y =1 y = 1-x.. put in d circle... x^2 + (1-x)^2 =9 x^2 - x -4 =0
x=1/2(1+sqrt 17) & 1/2(1- sqrt 17)
for these values of x.. find values of y
Y=1/2(1 - sqrt 17) & 1/2(1+ sqrt 17)
then d pts of intersection come out 2 b
(1/2(1+sqrt 17),1/2(1 - sqrt 17))
and (1/2(1- sqrt 17),1/2(1+ sqrt 17))
nw for d smallest circle dese should be d extremeties of d diameter of d circle....
so =n of circle is
(x-x1)(x-x2) + (y-y1)(y-y2) = 0 (x1,y1) & (x2,y2) extremities of diameter
x^2 + y^2 -x -y -8 = 0
