All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE):, JEE Main

The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) JEE Main, a national level engineering entrance exam, is organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. This competitive test  was Introduced in the year 2002 for admission to various under-graduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE(JEE Main) score, including five Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). The examination is generally held on the last Sunday of April and results are announced in the last week of May or the first week of June. Candidates are ranked on an all-India basis and state basis. So they have an All India Rank (AIR) as well as a State Rank (SR).

Each individual International Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) provides different set of undergraduate engineering courses in its campuses.

IIIT Hyderabad provides engineering degree in following branches ...

1.) Computer science, 2.) Electronic & communication

Also providing Dual engineering degree in following streams ...

1.) B.Tech in Computer Science,

2.) MS in Computational Natural Science

3.) B.Tech in Computer Science and Masters in Computational Linguistics (5 year Dual Degree)

4.) B.Tech in Computer Science and MS by Research in Exact Humanities (5 year Dual Degree Program).

IIIT Allahabad offers B.Tech in IT & ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering) from year 2003 is through the all India Exam conducted by CBSE. These courses are arguably one of the best in the country in the field of information technology and electronics & communications engineering. Its greatest strength is its adaptability to the changing industry requirements. A student here is not only learning the newest technologies, but is also given ample industry exposure.

And many postgraduate degrees (M.Tech, MS & PhD) are also provided by these IIITs. More on all IIITs course syllabus .

AIEEE(JEE Main) Eligibility Criteria:

Indian Students who have passed 10+2(Class XII) or an equivalent exam or appearing for the qualifying examination are considered for the provisional admission into the degree course. If you are an aspiring engineer, and you want to appear AIEEE you have to pass your 10+2 with an aggregate of 50 % marks with Physics and mathematics as the compulsory subjects. Students who wish to be architects are required to pass their 10+2 with an aggregate of 50 % marks with Mathematics as a compulsory subject. Chemistry, Computer Science, Bio-Technology or Biology can be taken as optional subject.

AIEEE (JEE Main) Exam Pattern:

AIEEE exam comprises of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 has three sections - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with equal weight for each subject. Each section consists of multiple choice  objective-type questions each of which has four choices. Out of the four choices for a given question, only one choice is correct. Paper 1 has a negative-marking scheme wherein an incorrect answer is negatively marked with one fourth of the maximum marks allotted to the question. Paper 2 has three sections: Mathematics, Drawing, and Aptitude. Mathematics, and Drawing sections have multiple choice objective-type questions and the Aptitude section has drawing-based questions. The duration of each paper is three hours.
