Himachal Pradesh Combined Pre-Entrance Test (HP CPET):

A combined pre-entrance test for admission is to 4 years BTech courses is conducted by NIT Hamirpur. The HP CPET entrance exam is held usually in May/June at Himachal Pradesh University Campus, Shimla 5; NIT, Hamirpur; Govt. College, Hamirpur; Government College Dharmashala and GC Mandi. Payment Seats Candidates who fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions may apply to the college directly

HP CPET Admission Procedure:

Application form along with information brochure for HP CPET admission can be obtained from National Institute of Technology, (NIT Hamirpur), Hamirpur 177005. Completed admission application form with the requisite test fee should reach the institute by the notified date usually in April.

Selection Procedure in HP CPET Entrance:

Selection is made on merit of the HP CEPT entrance exam. The Himachal Pradesh combined entrance exam is held usually in May/June at following institutes:

1.) Himachal Pradesh University Campus, Shimla 5;
2.) NIT, Hamirpur;
3.) Govt. College, Hamirpur;
4.) Government College Dharmashala
5.) Government College, Mandi.

Payment Seats Candidates who fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions may apply to the college directly. Mode of HP CPET Entrance will be in English.

Eligibility Qualification Criteria:

Pass in 10+2 examination of HP Board of School Education or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English for General Seats; for Payment/NRI seats, candidate must have obtained 60% marks in the qualifying exam.

Domicile Restrictions :

Domicile is determined on the basis of the location of institution from where the candidate passed the qualifying exam.

General (Free Seats)

(i.) Candidates should have passed/appeared in the qualifying exam from the schools located in Himachal Pradesh.

(ii) Any State for children/wards of

(a.) employees of Himachal Government/ Boards/ Corporation/ Autonomous bodies

(b.) Bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh.

HPCPET Entrance Pattern:

HP CPET exam comprises of objective type multiple choices questions which are asked from the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.

Reservation of Seats:

As per the reservation of seats in HPCPET, it is SC- 15%, ST-7.5%, diploma holders 2 seats and teachers of Government Polytechnics situated in Himachal Pradesh 2 seats.

Important Entrance Dates HP CPET:
HP CPET is conducted for admission in the four year bachelor's degree in B.Tech. Himachal Pradesh CPET 2012 is expected to be conducted in the month of May 2013.
