@The_Emperor, I agree with you that its the knowledge which matter and not the degree but lemme tell u one thing, the course/curriculum of all the 3 campuses is SAME. SAME books are followed, same things are taught in all the 3 campuses of BITS. Becoz its a centralized university unlike IITs. Each IIT is a different university, so u can say that for IITs but not for BITS.

And how does it matter to u that how many teachers are PhD or not???  Do U talk to all the 44 PhD teachers of ur college? U R doing BE/BTech not post graduation and a Mtech person is enuf to teach an undergraduate. PhD facutly is helpful for those who want to go in higher research or do some higher projects and our college has enough PhDs for that. And it wud be better if u check out the hyd campus site becoz it has got more PhDs than goa campus.

And I never said that DAIICT is a bad college. Well, I dont like comparing my college with any other but since u have mentioned, i am forced to do. Look at the no. of admits from Goa campus First batch. Remember its the first batch, no good faculty, not a very developed campus, not many labs and still so many admits?? Dude, go and ask ur seniors and they will tell you that how much  a degree or its brand name matters when u wish to go for MS/PhD abroad.

I wanted to stress one major issue here. Your undergraduate college and curriculum does give you an edge over other colleges, but what matters is what you've done in your college life to live up to its name. Here is what I think differentiates IITs/BITS from other colleges:

1) People from IITs/BITS are the most motivated students I've ever seen.
2) They have very good profs. (more so for IITs)
3) Get very very good internships (For BITS through PS-1, PS-2 and independently)
4) Do very good projects in their collegs (The system of taking Lab/Subject/Computer Oriented Projects called LOP, SOP, COP exists in VERY few engineering colleges, and ofcourse in BITS)
5) Publish some or the other paper during their under graduation
6) Have an ultimate alumni base to help them out
7) They aim for higher and better universities.

I know students from 2nd batch (6 of them going to London School of Economics, 1 to Citibank singapore, 1 to Citibank, Chennai, 1 to JP Morgan, mumbai, several to IISc, Indian Statistical Institute, IIITs etc.) all by applying independently. This is where BITS name helped them a little, and they take it further from there on their own skills and knowledge.

You make the college, the college doesn't make you. A college can only help u.

ll the above data is for clearing various myths and not for any comparison. I wish to explain to you guys that MS/PhD is a very plausible option for you once you are passing out from BITS (or even after that). Please don't make this post a comparison between BITS and any other college (Including the IITs).

Also dont forget that there is no reservation of any sort at BITS. Pure merit is considered for admissions.

Well, that was just to justify that BITS is a good college and deserves to be there at the top with the IITs. But ya, there is a possiblity that i might have underestimated DAIICT or LNMIIT but thats becoz i dont have all the info abt them just like u dont have all the info abt my college.
