[x] means the GREATEST INTEGER less than or Equal to x..........

So if x=5.......[x] = 5............!!!
So if x=5.2...........[x] = 5.......!!!!!!!
So if x=5.9..........[x] = 5.........!!!!!!!

So............5<=x<6.........[x] = 5.......!!!!!!!

Now for negative numbers.........

if x= -1.2...........[x] = -2.......!!!!!!! Remember it has to be greatest INTEGER less than.....and -2 is less than -1.2 and NOT -1.........!!!!!!

Also x= -1.4.........[x] = -2......!!!!!!!

So........-2<=x<-1........[x] = -2.......!!!!!!!!
