open system-heating of a liquid in an open vessel,where both matter n heat cn be exchanged w/ the surroundings

closed system-heating of a liquid in a closed container,where only heat can be exchanged w/ the surroundings

isolated system-heated liquid kept in say, a thermos flask?..where neither heat nor matter can be exchanged w/ the surroundings...!

by matter i mean the vapours of the liquid or droplets of the liq whatever...hope u got me
