melting point of any compound depends upon mainly two factors 1.moleculer mass 2.moleculer symetery so in case of para isomer there is more moleculer symetry so more melting point.if we take example of trans and cis alkene ,trans are more symetrical alkene so melting points are more.very intresting example of melting point of alkanes also where even number of alkanes have higher melting point than odd number due to moleculer symetry,this is known as saw tooth rule.
