Yes of course.... let us go into some detail.. As you will see.. if you leave a disk from the top of the incline plane. then friction will act on the upward dirn and if you try to move it from bottom to top then also. friction will act on the downward dirn . So in this case the friction is not conservative since between time intervals it may change its dirn .Now the ony conservative force is mg. therefore when frictio is zero then only total mechanical energy is conserved. this is only possible when the motion starts from pure rolling. |
