it is calculeted by E1 +E2  for example when phosphorus reacts in presence of alkali to form PH3 and NaH2PO2 so first case oxidation of P changes from 0 to -3 and in second case 0 to +5 ,by this calculate factor for both half and apply E1 +E2.
