Atomic wt of an element is defined as average wt of an atom of an element relative to carbon atom taken exactly as 12 & Atomic wt in grams is in fact the wt of 1 mole of atoms for e.g if at wt of Oxygen is 16 & so 16 g is wt of 1 mole mathematically At wt = wt of atoms in grams /no of moles of atoms. Atomic wt is measured in amu & amu can be defined as 1/12 of the mass of C-12 isotope ,it is also called as 1 dalton. Thus there has to be a relationshp b/w the two 1amu = 1.66x10-24 g | |||||||||||||
