I came back to this site after 6 months ,last time was during the admission process ,i think.I came through some post saying the quality of this site has reduced and stuff...Here is some of my advice to all:
1) Visit this site only when you have genuine doubts and during free time.
2) To get your questions,answered fast ,ask though the chat in profile to specific people coz sometimes your questions get disappeared very fast from the main questions section on the home page and may go unseen to people who may know its answer.
3)One technique which I followed to keep the question in the main list was to put some comment on the question or modify it as then.
4)You should try the tests on this site ( They are for free!!)
5)For revision,and some good questions you can go through the questions and the articles posted by some good contributors like Himanshu,Harishankar,etc and many others.
6) For new comers ,the content and the quality of the study material provided on this site is also good.
7)For physics ,initially for mechanics you can see articles posted on cnx.org. (for new comers)
8) Good articles for revision and reference(For chem) can be found on the articles section.
9) Always search you question in the search window(advanced search) and even the articles you are interested in coz someone may have already answered it or posted it.
10)Don't get addicted to this site spend time on foolish arguments on non-academic stuff coz it will not only waste ur time but also distract others(little bit is ok but not too much .this is not a social networking site)
11)Make notes.Revise important subjects.Revise your old problems(the good ones done in class rather than doing new problems --- this is for not for new comers).I mean revising and m stressing it again coz doing ur previously solved problems will make you perfect with wat u have done and give u confidence.
12)Frankly speaking, I feel you should always ask you teachers at coaching classes and friends first for doubts rather than opening the computer and asking on forums.Coz it will mostly happen that you open your computer for some important stuff and end up facebooking,orkuting and other stuff...
