The same thing happened to me. The thing is, I never had a reference book apart from my own ncert text books, and due to this, i was not able to solve all the problems in mechanics and stuff. I was really frustrated. But the day I bought H C Verma, I changed completely. I gotta admit that it is the best book I have ever read (for physics). Now after completing a particular chapter, I can solve almost any problem related to that chapter, coz it clears your concepts like hell.
