sorry, .one mistake............

in the first step , nucleophile can abstract one proton from -OH .... so, we need to protect -OH by ISOBUTENE , DO THE ATTACT AND THEN DO HYDROLYSIS .....................

TO AVOID ALL THIS .... TAKE THE SUBSTRATE AS FORMALDEHYDE... ?

HOPE FR MORE GOOD ONES........ PLS RATE IF GOOD...........!
