In SN1 reactions , the total reaction takes place in overall 2 steps- the first one in which, a group is removed, after which a positive charge is created at its place at which, nucleophile attacks in the second step.these 2 steps occur one after the other i.e.at a time the reaction is carried out only between one molecule. & so it is unimolecular.
In SN2 rxn, it is other way round. In it,there is setup a transition state & the removal of group from one side & addition of nucleophile takes place simultaneously & so it is said to be bimolecular as 2 operations come into play simultaneously. i hope this will help u. RATE ME PLZZZZ ....
