There are many aspects to it(i) How was your studies in class eleventh (as in even if you had not prepared for IIT are you clear with all NCERT level problems)(ii) How will you study in this year(iiii) What is you definition of good rankBut in all the cases you will be in a much better position if you study for IIT with respect to case where you do not study for IIT. So don't worry result and start your preperation for IIT as soon as possible.
