TIme period of a magnet means time period of the magnet kept in vibration magnetometer. When a magnet it kept in a vibration magnetometer along earth's horizontal field (Bh)and given small oscillation a restoring torque M*Bh*sin(theta) acts on it (where M is the magnetic moment of magnet). This causes the magnet to execute SHM. For small theta Torque = - M*Bh*theta Si time period = 2*pi*sqrt(I/(M*Bh)) where I is moment of inertia of magnet. |
