look Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering that concerns the development, improvement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, material and process.
The basic work of industrial engineers is to make products more consistent and efficient and to increase productivity.
No i dont think its similar to mechanical engg
The scope ofcourse is gud and so r the placements
