Theapparent discrepancy between the bending of light predicted by theequivalence principle and its corresponding value in general relativity isresolved by evaluating the deflection of light with respect toa direction that is parallel transported along the ray trajectoryin 3-space. In this way the bending predicted by theequivalence principle is fulfilled in general relativity and other alternativemetric theories of gravity.
