generally we can see the things when light is focused on the objects,the light which is focused on the objects gets reflected and reaches our eyes,for example when it is dark in a room and u wish to see an object and u have a torch with u,where wud u focus the torch,at ur face or at the object?u have to definitely focus on the object, in a similar way we can easily see when the room lights are switched off rather than a well lighted room.hope ur doubt is clarified
