Yes Aceto acetic aster produces carboxylic acid on

presence of Con.KOH and also C₂H₅OH

I am giving you the Algorithm of the reaction as it takes

place accordingly :

1)Acetacetic ester reacts with C₂H₅O^-/C₂H₅OH

and forms CH₃-CO-CH^--CO-OC₂H₅.

2)The above product reacts with RX means any alkyl

halide to give CH₃-CO-CR-CO-OC₂H₅.

Now what you asked for ..

3)The above product undergoes Hydrolysis in presence of

KOH/C₂H₅OH and now there is formation of "Carboxylic

acid".

The product formed is " CH₃-C-OH "
