The IIT/AIEEE s are not very difficult to give, all it
requires is hard work ... bla bla bla?. I am not going to bore you with cliches. You all know this, don?t you?
Now we will go about it in a disciplined manner, and that?s what is the first rule.
1. Discipline discipline and more discipline. Plan
your schedule for everyday in advance. Each hour
and each minute must be accounted for. Remember,
you have very small time left! This will decide
whether you have a chance to get through IIT or
not. And it will require strong will power.
Incorporate this discipline in each aspect of your
life. You should be able to put an army to shame!
2. Assess how much course is left. Sit down today,
infact right now, and evaluate how much have you
covered and how much study is required in each
topic. Decide your schedule accordingly.
Remember, you are aiming for a top rank. However, if you feel that you have a lot on hand, then don?t be afraid to keep the easier topics on the backburner.
Proper planning is required for your schedule which take into account time for study, practice, revision and testing.
3. Now this is very important - once you have made your schedule, stick to it. Come what may, you
must not, even for a single day, miss out on your topics for that day. Even if it is the final cricket match, or your relative?s marriage, don?t attend
unless you have finished the day?s study. Otherwise the pending work will crop up into unmanageable proportions!
Enough about study and schedule.
They are the most important part of
your preparation, that?s not enough.
Now come the less mentioned, but
equally important things that are also
very important towards your success.
1. Always keep a cheerful attitude. At no time should you get psyched or
bogged down by the tension or pressure of your
studies. Fear, tension or self-doubt will only harm
you. So say good bye to them and always remain
cool and cheerful. Also stay away from any
arguments and fights.
2. Take adequate rest (but don?t become a sleeping
beauty!). 7 hours of sleep should be sufficient for
anyone. Also take enough exercise. Go out for a
walk between study hours. Get some fresh air.
Don?t remain in a study room all day. That will
inhibit your thinking.
3. Don?t be lethargic. Be alert all day (even during
the afternoons, when you probably take a nap).
4. Don?t follow what everyone says. Remember, there
are millions of books and your friends would all
have different books. That does not mean you
have to go through every one of them. Choose for
yourself and limit yourself to 2-3 books. More importantly, don?t follow every advice you get. Everyone of your
acquaintances (relations, friends, parents) will
advise you, ?study like this?, ?go to the temple
everyday?, ?eat only this food and not that? and
so on! Don?t go by everything people say. Eat a
balanced diet and stay healthy.
Do not forget, it is you who is giving the exam,
not anyone else. So it should be you who should
decide what is best for you. Take advice from others,
but make the final decisions on your own. Also, have
confidence in yourself. It requires lots of self-confidence to prepare for IIT?s. Don?t get fearful or
bogged down by the immense load of preparation.
That?s it! Now you should be clear as to how you
should go about your preparation in the forthcoming
hard (really hard,
months. Just keep your calm, work
and according to your schedule) and stay healthy.
Friend That should be enough.
Wishing you the very best of luck in your entrance
exam. Good luck.
